The dMAT Ultimate
Resource Guide
Every official video, sample paper and preparation tool for Germany's Digital Master Assessment Test — organised into one complete study kit for Indian applicants.
Your complete dMAT prep hub, in order
Work through this page top to bottom — watch the official videos, download the PDFs, then practise with the platforms and free resources. The 4-week plan ties it all together.
Indian APS applicants — read this first. You will sit the General Academic Module (GAM), not a subject-specific module. The Computer Science and Data Science PDFs below are your best reference for the GAM's format and question style.
Watch these before any practice
Five instructional videos from g.a.s.t. on the official d-mat.de portal. Each explains the interface and solving strategy for one part of the test — during the real exam only short reminders appear.
General Introduction
Overview of exam format, structure and what to expect on test day.
Figure Sequences
Visual pattern recognition — movement, colour and rotation rules explained.
Mathematical Equations
Solving equation systems mentally using the integers 1–20 constraint.
Latin Squares
5×5 logic grids — systematic elimination and rule-based deduction.
Subject Module Overview
How the module section works — essential for understanding the GAM.
Recommended Watch Order
Intro → Figure Sequences → Equations → Latin Squares → Subject Module. Take notes on the movement rules — they're the hardest to recall on exam day.
Download the official sample papers
Published by g.a.s.t. Each PDF has sample tasks, full worked solutions and problem-solving strategies. Download all three — even the ones outside your field show the exact question format you'll face.
Computer Science
Closest match to the GAM format — input text plus single-choice application questions.
Data Science
Data tables, charts and quantitative-inference tasks — excellent GAM reading practice.
Battery Science & Tech
Reference for engineering-style subject tasks and detailed worked solution paths.
Inside every PDF: sample tasks at three difficulty levels (low / medium / high) · complete solutions with reasoning · task-by-task instructions · the exact on-screen question layout.
Core Module practice (Figure Sequences, Equations, Latin Squares) with 2 tasks per difficulty level lives on the official prep page — d-mat.de/en/preparation-for-the-exam ↗
Which module do you take?
The dMAT pairs the Core Module with one subject module. Indian APS students always take the General Academic Module; the specialised modules below are tied to specific German programmes.
Your module: General Academic Module (GAM). Required for all Indian APS applicants. It tests reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical inference from unfamiliar academic material — not memorised subject knowledge.
More modules are expected on the same template through 2026–2027. Check d-mat.de before you register in case a module matching your target programme goes live.
Where to get mock tests
Official practice is deliberately limited, so you'll want extra full-length mocks. Rather than piecing them together from random sites, get exam-realistic practice as part of our preparation support — built around the official format.
Full-length timed mocks
Practice under real exam conditions — the 75-second pace, no calculator, no notes — so nothing surprises you on test day.
Detailed feedback
See exactly which subtest is holding you back — Figure Sequences, Equations or Latin Squares — and fix it.
Personalised roadmap
Your 4-week plan tailored to your baseline, with the right mix of official materials and guided practice.
Official materials are free — start there. When you want structured, exam-realistic mocks and feedback, we've got you covered.

These well-known tests share the dMAT's cognitive DNA. Use them to supplement — never replace — the official materials.
The closest free mock to the dMAT: TestAS is built by g.a.s.t. — the same body that makes the dMAT — and its digital Core Test uses the identical three subtests (Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations, Latin Squares). Its official preparatory PDF has sample questions with answers for every subtest.

A proven week-by-week path
Roughly 5–6 hours per week. Master the parts before attempting full mocks. Compress to 3 weeks if needed (6–8 hrs/week).
- Watch all 5 official videos; take notes on movement rules.
- Download the Computer Science & Data Science PDFs; skim the question styles.
- Do one untimed run of the official Core Module samples.
- Note your weakest of the three subtests.
- Figure Sequences: Raven's matrices, track one element mentally.
- Equations: drill the 1–20 multiplication table; solve without a calculator.
- Latin Squares: 5×5 grids daily, no scratch paper.
- Re-attempt Week 1's weak subtest under a soft timer.
- Study the GAM-style questions in the CS & Data Science PDFs.
- 1–2 GRE reading passages daily; extract the core argument fast.
- Read charts/data tables and draw inferences without a calculator.
- Take one free platform sample test to gauge progress.
- 2–3 full-length mocks — full 3.5 hrs incl. the 30-min break.
- Enforce the 75-second-per-question limit; zero aids.
- Review solution paths, not just answers.
- Rest the final 2 days — no new material.
Tick as you collect them
Priority 1 is essential; 2 and 3 add practice volume. Your ticks are just for this visit.
🥇 Priority 1 — Official (free)
🥈 Priority 2 — Guided practice
🥉 Priority 3 — Free proxies
Prep smart, not hard
✔ Do
- Start with the official videos — free and authoritative.
- Practise every math task without a calculator.
- Master each subtest before full mocks.
- Sit at least 2 full-length timed mocks.
- Study why each answer is right, not just the answer.
- Rest the 2 days before the exam.
✘ Don't
- Rote-memorise patterns — dMAT tests transfer skills.
- Rely on a single resource.
- Treat it exactly like GRE/GMAT — related, not identical.
- Take endless mocks; 2–3 quality runs suffice.
- Ignore the 75-second-per-question discipline.
- Delay starting because "materials are limited".
Common questions
Yes. Official d-mat.de materials + one practice platform + free GRE-style reading covers everything. Extra paid courses are optional.
No — dMAT is new in India for 2026. There are no past papers. Use the official samples and 2026-format practice platforms.
For the General Academic Module, very — GRE reading comprehension and critical reasoning build the same skills. Use them as a supplement.
Week 4, after the individual subtests feel comfortable. Don't attempt full mocks in week 1.
Only the 1–20 integers and their products for the equations section. Everything else is reasoning.
Normal in weeks 1–2. Aptitude scores rise sharply with structured practice — focus on understanding weak areas.
